Well this fall I couldn’t find my sunflower wreath and the pumpkins I painted last year. So some girlfriends were coming for lunch and the spring summer wreath etc. were still on the door. I took all of that down in a hurry. I found an old grapevine wreath and hung it on the black metal wall planter but it wasn’t decorated. I found a bag of pieces of some previous decoration, some sunflowers and leaves but not enough to cover the wreath. So I ran around the yard cutting lots of different hydrangeas, some berries from viburnums and some feathery tips from some grasses. I stuck some on the wreath and then filled up the planters. I had some boxwoods in containers that I had not gotten around to planting yet so I put them in the center of each planter (there was not time to go buy any pumpkins or mums!). Then I had a little mossy flat wall basket which I always thought was too small for a door arrangement. Well not once it got all filled up. So literally I threw the stuff in there and added the few artificial pieces and flowers I had. All pretty and free!
Now yes, some of this will dry nicely, some will have to be removed if it dries ugly and over time I will have to fill in with some more stuff from the yard. Or maybe I will find last years flowers and the fake painted pumpkins or something else.
Here are some of the other pictures of this year’s fall decorations for the front door and entry way.
Just a few more inspiring photos. Most are from last fall.
